The Brakpan Airfield was established in 1953. Our airfield has a long tar runway, which makes it possible for bigger and faster as well as jet propelled aircraft to operate from it. The airfield is quite busy with an average of about 40 take-offs and 40 landings per day and it can easily handle much more. We have three flight schools at the airport, jointly training some 120 new pilots every year.
The airfield is licensed as a private airfield and Brakpan Aero Club is the license holder. |
Only Club members are allowed to own or occupy a building or hangar on the airfield, run a business on the airfield, keep an aircraft on the airfield, fly as student pilot or pilot in command at the airfield or make use of the clubhouse and it's facilities. Any person engaging in any of the activities reserved for members only therefore automatically becomes a Club member and accepts all responsibilities, financial and otherwise, associated therewith.
Visiting aircraft for the purpose of refuelling, maintenance, fly-in, air show, or temporary stay over, as well as guests of members are always welcome and such persons do not have to be members. |
